One cannot expect positive results from an educational program which fails to respect the particular world view held by the people.

Leaders who do not act dialogically, but insist on imposing their decisions, do not organize the people - they manipulate them. They do not liberate, nor are they liberated; they oppress. . . . To alienate humans from their own decision making is to change them into objects.

If the structure does not permit dialogue, the structure must be changed . . . Washing one's hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless is to side with the powerful, not to be neutral.

KS
I am a sociologist. I've been teaching in colleges and universities for 30 years (and, yes, I was very young when I started). I served on the Central School Board for four years; years that were very frustrating and disillusioning. I guess I'm just not much of a "insider" and am better suited to the role of social critic.
