The Superintendent's "Raise"

Did the superintendent receive a raise this year? It's a matter of interpretation. His salary last year was supposed to be $121,856. Last year, administrator's "gave back" days to alleviate the budget crisis. This reduced the superintendent's actual salary to $112,409. This year his salary is at the level it was supposed to be last year. Is that a raise? Compared to what he actually received last year, yes it is. Compared to what he was supposed to be paid last year, no it's not.

It should also be noted that the superintendent sold back ten "unused" vacation days last year which allowed him to recoup lost salary. No other employee is allowed to do that.

  1. Kathleen, Do the school board members know about your blog of John Boyacks?? I'm sure you've considered this but it what about going to the newspaper with this information? You have collected evidence regarding wrong-doings by our superintendent and thus the board themselves. It is amazing to me that all of this is still hush-hush! You are doing an amazing job, thanks for being a voice of reason and truth!

  2. The media knows about the blogs, as does the Board, the superintendent, administrators, teachers, and classified staff. I've had 8,500 page hits in the two months since I started writing this so obviously there are quite a few people interested in what's going on in our district. What happens next is up to all of us.

  4. The word is that the superintendant doesn't actually HAVE a signed contract for this year yet. Much like the teachers.

If that's the case, is there still a possibility that that his continuing "leadership" of the district is able to be terminated this year?

  5. They now have all of the board minutes and board email addresses up on the CSD website. It looks like he might not have a new contract. Does his contract have to be presented at a board meeting?

  6. AWESOME! I guess that means I got a raise too! And every other district employee (since we all gave up pay last year).
